Environmental Health Practitioner (Senior)

About the role

The Central Karoo District Municipality, based in Beaufort West and covering the Laingsburg, Prince Albert and Beaufort West local municipalities, is recruiting a full-time Senior Environmental Health Practitioner. The role sits in the Environment Health and Safety field and provides municipal health services in the designated area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide municipal health services in the responsible area in line with the Health Act, 2003 (Act 61 of 2003).
• Follow organisational policies, statutory requirements and the Scope of Practice for an Environmental Health Practitioner.

Required profile

• National Diploma or degree in Environmental Health.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 to 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Completed the compulsory one-year community service.
• Currently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Practitioner.
• Valid Code B driver's licence and own reliable vehicle; successful completion of Peace Officer training is an advantage.

Required skills

• Excellent communication skills in at least two of the three languages of the Western Cape.
• Computer literacy.
• Analytical, interpersonal and project management skills, with good facilitation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
