Enrolled Nurse – GI

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse – GI provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients within the gastrointestinal unit at Netcare Parklands Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the role focuses on delivering safe, high‑quality patient care and supporting the nursing team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Manage stock, equipment usage, cleaning, and storage according to hospital policies.
• Ensure a therapeutic, clean, and safe environment, adhering to waste‑management and occupational safety standards.
• Deliver patient care within the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice, including assessment, treatment, and health promotion.
• Participate in handover, quality‑improvement programmes, and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Supervise and support Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs) and report any equipment or risk issues to the sister‑in‑charge.

Required profile

• Registered Enrolled Nurse qualification.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and hospital policies.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in clinical documentation and patient record systems.
• Knowledge of infection control and standard precautions.
• Ability to manage medical supplies and equipment safely.
