Enrolled Nurse – Clinical Research Study Support

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will support the DRIVE Dx4TB TOO study, a multicentre diagnostic accuracy trial evaluating next‑generation TB diagnostics. Working under the supervision of a research nurse or study coordinator, you will ensure high‑quality implementation of study protocols while upholding ethical and professional standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures and day‑to‑day activities required for study implementation.
• Conduct clinical assessments, screen and enrol participants with presumptive TB.
• Carry out study‑related procedures such as phlebotomy, urine and sputum collection, and coordinate chest X‑ray appointments.
• Provide HIV counselling, testing and linkage to care when needed.
• Complete case report forms accurately and enter data into study databases.
• Ensure compliance with study protocol, GCP guidelines and ethical requirements.
• Liaise with site investigators, laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Handle, store and transport specimens properly and timely.
• Support quality control, monitoring and adverse event reporting.
• Engage with community and clinics to aid participant recruitment and retention, especially for telephonic follow‑ups.

Required profile

• Registered Enrolled Nurse with a valid South African Nursing Council registration.
• Experience in clinical research or healthcare settings involving specimen collection and patient counselling.
• Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethical standards for research.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
