Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary – NNICU

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU) at Life Peglerae Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. The role focuses on delivering safe, high‑quality patient care and supporting the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to newborns, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and patient safety.
• Observe patients, identify special needs, and promptly report any abnormal changes to the supervising nurse or manager.
• Maintain a safe environment by removing hazards and reporting potential risks.
• Participate in in‑service education sessions and ongoing professional development.
• Assist with health education campaigns and community outreach programmes.
• Support rehabilitation activities and help patients achieve greater independence.

Required profile

• Qualified Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary with Matric certificate.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• At least two years of experience in an NNICU setting; experience is an advantage.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts as required by hospital operations.
• Understanding of the private healthcare environment and basic computer skills are advantageous.
