Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary – Hospital Ward Support

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients on the ward, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for patient wellbeing, documentation, and the efficient use of stock and equipment in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe therapeutic environment free from medico‑legal hazards.
• Follow Netcare medical waste and general waste management protocols.
• Control and monitor stock levels, ensuring proper storage and usage of equipment.
• Report equipment that requires repair or replacement to the sister‑in‑charge.
• Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
• Monitor and record patients' vital signs.
• Carry out nursing procedures in line with hospital standards.
• Apply infection prevention and standard precautions.
• Participate in shift handovers and communicate any queries to the sister‑in‑charge.
• Identify and report potential or actual risks.

Required profile

• Enrolled Nurse qualification (or equivalent) registered in South Africa.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• BLS certification.
• Vital signs monitoring.
• Infection control procedures.
• Medical waste management.
• Equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Stock control and inventory management.
