Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A

About the role

The South African Navy’s Fleet Command Headquarters is seeking a permanent Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A to join the Naval Engineering Services in Simon’s Town. The role focuses on providing item specification, drawing, technical investigation and information support services for naval projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide item specification and drawing services for naval equipment.
• Conduct technical investigations related to item specifications.
• Deliver information‑support services for engineering specifications.
• Compile and present technical reports in English.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering or a related qualification.
• At least three years of post‑qualification technical experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Current compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Decision‑making capability and knowledge of legal compliance and research & development.

Required skills

• Proven experience in an engineering drawing office.
• Knowledge of design software (CAD) and other computer programmes used in a design environment.
• Understanding of specifications, standards and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to compile and present technical reports in English.
