Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A

About the role

The South African Navy’s Fleet Command Headquarters in Simon’s Town is seeking a qualified Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A. The role supports naval engineering services, focusing on system advice, defect analysis, detailed design, acceptance trials and project management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide system and subsystem advice and conduct defect analysis.
• Develop integrated concepts and detailed designs for naval equipment.
• Execute acceptance trials and support testing activities.
• Manage engineering projects and tasks, ensuring timelines are met.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering or a related qualification.
• Minimum three years of post‑qualification technical experience.
• Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD/Caddie software.
• Strong command of the MS Office suite.
• Ability to produce technical reports in English.
• Experience in mechanical or constructive engineering, preferably within ship structures.
• Familiarity with Class and IMO regulations (advantageous).
