Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing earthmoving machinery used across Tharisa Minerals' mining operations. The role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently and in line with company standards while minimizing downtime and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical issues, conduct routine inspections and perform corrective repairs on earthmoving equipment.
• Assemble, install, test and maintain machinery using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Take and analyse oil samples, record results and recommend actions according to internal procedures.
• Monitor health and safety compliance within the assigned area and enforce safe work practices.
• Plan and execute component change‑outs based on kilometre‑hour tracking and scheduled maintenance.
• Complete job cards and daily reports to keep supervisors informed of progress and equipment status.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of breakdowns and implement cost‑effective solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing earthmoving or heavy‑equipment in a mining environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics and diesel engines.
• Ability to work safely under pressure and adhere to strict health‑and‑safety standards.
• Good record‑keeping skills for job cards, maintenance logs and oil‑sample documentation.
