Donor Care Officer

About the role

The Donor Care Officer ensures safe and efficient collection of whole blood and apheresis units at blood drives and donor centres. You will welcome donors, manage consumables, and support the clinical team to meet collection targets while providing high‑quality donor care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cost per unit and consumable inventory, packing and loading supplies for each drive.
• Maintain and validate collection equipment, reporting repairs promptly.
• Welcome donors, guide them through registration, and assist with form completion.
• Conduct donor screening, basic physical checks, risk‑behaviour interviews and document results.
• Perform phlebotomy and apheresis procedures according to SOPs, ensuring correct blood volume.
• Provide donor education, refreshments, and post‑donation care.
• Handle complaints, coach the team on customer service, and report irregularities to the clinic supervisor.
• Assist with setting up drives, packing vehicles, and recruiting donors to meet targets.
• Initiate emergency treatment (First Aid/CPR) when required.

Required profile

• Experience in blood collection or donor services in a clinical setting.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with donors and stakeholders.
• Capability to respond to emergencies and perform basic first‑aid measures.
• Attention to detail for equipment validation and inventory management.
