Distribution Hub Manager

About the role

The Hub Manager leads the safe, efficient and cost‑effective operation of a high‑volume e‑commerce courier hub. Reporting to senior management, the role oversees inbound receiving, parcel sorting, dispatch, returns and exception handling while meeting service‑level agreements and delivery cut‑off times.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end responsibility for daily hub operations across inbound, sortation, staging, dispatch, returns and parcel exceptions.
• Develop and execute daily/weekly operating plans based on forecast volumes, staffing levels and transport schedules.
• Lead, coach and develop shift managers, supervisors and frontline staff, ensuring safety, productivity and quality standards.
• Monitor real‑time performance, identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to meet KPIs such as parcels processed per hour and on‑time dispatch.
• Manage the hub budget, control labour and consumable costs, and approve expenditures within delegated authority.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years experience in logistics, courier or warehouse operations, with at least 3 years leading a large multi‑shift operation.
• Proven track record managing high parcel volumes, frontline workforces and operational budgets.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays as required.

Required skills

• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Parcel scanning technology and automated sortation equipment.
• Operational reporting and data analysis.
• Lean, Six Sigma or comparable continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Project‑management techniques.
