Distribution Centre Supervisor

About the role

The purpose of the role is to ensure that all departmental activities are completed accurately and timeously as per the distribution centre plan through effective planning, leading, organizing and managing of the team. The position is based in Hagley, Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Execute departmental activities accurately and on time, aligned with the DC plan.
• Lead the team to deliver exceptional results.
• Manage employee relations and drive a great team culture.
• Participate in and drive best operating practices.
• Drive efficiency through effective planning and problem‑solving.
• Plan and organise team scheduling, reporting, consumable management, cost control and action implementation.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and teams.
• Co‑ordinate health and safety activities.
• Ensure policy and procedure awareness and adherence.
• Apply asset management principles for correct use and maintenance of assets.
• Control maintenance and repair costs.
• Investigate and report incidents to manage risk.

Required profile

• Warehouse system knowledge (WMS).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Understanding of standard operating procedures within departments.
• Driving compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Basic human resource and employee relations knowledge.
• Leading and supervising – strong leadership qualities.
• Working with people – excellent interpersonal skills.
• Deciding and initiating action – ability to make informed decisions.
• Communication (written and verbal) – clear professional communication.
• Persuading and influencing – competence in convincing others.
