Dispensary Manager – Kriel

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Dispensary Manager to lead the pharmacy operations at its Kriel store. The role involves overseeing the dispensary, ensuring high‑quality pharmaceutical care, and managing a team of staff in a retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Staff the dispensary and self‑medication areas, ensuring all personnel work within their scope of practice.
• Maintain compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice regulations and SAPC requirements.
• Monitor stock levels, prevent expired or short‑dated inventory, and manage stocktake preparation.
• Secure Schedule 6 medications, keep registers balanced quarterly, and oversee SAPC registration fees.
• Accurately interpret prescriptions, verify patient details, and ensure correct picking, packing, labeling, and dispensing.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and explain medical aid costs.
• Process medical aid claims, authorise chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications, and maintain up‑to‑date customer profiles.
• Train and supervise the Dispensary Admin Assistant to handle routine administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric and a BPharm or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and a registered tutor.
• Experience supervising staff, preferably in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong command of English and a second language; willingness to work retail hours.
