Disaster Response Coordinator

About the role

The Disaster Response Coordinator is a core member of Airbnb's Global Crisis Management team, responsible for protecting the organization and its stakeholders during unforeseen events. You will develop and execute strategies to minimise disaster impact, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.

Key responsibilities

• Review incoming global incident notifications, assess severity and business impact, and formulate response strategies.
• Conduct continuous research to identify and monitor global threats that could affect Airbnb stakeholders.
• Draft and coordinate clear preparedness and response messaging for internal teams and external communities.
• Make critical business decisions during crisis situations, weighing trade‑offs and benefits.
• Lead and coordinate disaster response efforts across cross‑functional teams.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the GCM Disaster Response team.
• Provide timely situation reports and updates to stakeholders.
• Contribute to product and process improvement initiatives with the operations manager.
• Undertake ad‑hoc duties as needed to support GCM objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in global disaster response, threat monitoring, or intelligence analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high‑pressure situations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• High dependability and ability to meet schedule expectations in a fast‑paced environment.
• Adaptability to changing circumstances and fast‑paced work.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to support on‑ground efforts.
