Director, Specialist Sales – Payment Gateway Services

About the role

Mastercard Payment Gateway Services delivers an end‑to‑end omni‑channel gateway solution for merchants, payment facilitators and acquiring banks. The Director, Specialist Sales will lead the commercialization of this solution across Southern Africa, shaping go‑to‑market strategies and driving revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Drive commercialization of the MPGS solution within Southern Africa markets.
• Develop go‑to‑market plans leveraging local market knowledge and regulatory insight.
• Identify new revenue and business development opportunities.
• Act as the product subject‑matter expert, championing enhancements and building business cases.
• Influence product strategy, roadmaps and priorities using market intelligence.
• Build strong relationships with partners, suppliers, account teams, delivery and marketing functions.
• Monitor key performance metrics and ensure in‑market financial performance.
• Support business development activities, including RFP responses and translating customer needs into product requirements.

Required profile

• Proven product management experience launching eCommerce‑related products for Tier 1 merchants, acquiring banks or payment technology providers.
• Deep knowledge of merchant payment acceptance solutions and omni‑channel payments across retail, transit and hospitality.
• Strong understanding of point‑of‑sale systems, payment terminal infrastructure and integration models.
• Track record of successful product launches in multiple markets.
