Director, Public Affairs (South Africa)

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking a Director to lead its Public Affairs practice in South Africa. You will work with a high‑performing team and a portfolio of active client mandates, advising senior executives and government officials on regulatory, reputational and policy challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day delivery of complex public affairs engagements, including policy advocacy, government relations and crisis response.
• Provide strategic counsel to client CEOs and senior government stakeholders, translating political and regulatory developments into actionable advice.
• Lead components of new‑business pursuits, contribute to proposals, RFP responses and account growth.
• Represent FTI in market‑facing forums, media appearances and thought‑leadership platforms.
• Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative culture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in South Africa’s political economy, public policy and regulatory environments.
• Proven track record advising senior corporate and government leaders on strategic issues.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop trusted client relationships.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of parliamentary and regulatory processes.
• Expertise in media relations and stakeholder coalition building.
