Director, Project Execution & Construction

About the role

The Director, Project Execution & Construction is responsible for leading the delivery of a diverse portfolio of major, medium and minor projects across AngloGold Ashanti’s global operations. The role oversees the full project lifecycle—from implementation planning and construction through commissioning and hand‑over—ensuring safety, scope, budget and schedule targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Define and prioritize projects that support the Life of Mine strategy and annual business plans.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to develop and execute standardized project execution plans, timelines and budgets in line with Global Project Governance.
• Drive portfolio‑level optimisation by combining work scopes, reducing costs and improving procurement and contracting models.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, maintenance and site operations to ensure seamless commissioning and minimal production impact.
• Provide visible leadership for health, safety and environment, embedding a culture of physical and mental well‑being.
• Oversee HSE performance on project sites, ensuring compliance with site Safety Management Systems and regional requirements.
• Manage contractor safety training and integration of site requirements into project HSE plans.
• Implement rigorous risk management processes, including CRAWs, HAZOPs and change management, to mitigate operational disruptions.
• Maintain stakeholder communication matrices and lead stakeholder engagement across the portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in delivering large‑scale construction or mining projects.
• Strong track record of building and developing high‑performing, diverse project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to align projects with strategic asset plans and business objectives.
