Director of Sales, Europe

About the role

Planet, a provider of satellite-imaging data turned into cloud-based solutions, is seeking a Director of Sales for Europe. The role leads sales operations across the European defence and intelligence landscape, defines the regional go-to-market strategy and acts as the main link between the company's technical capabilities and national security clients. It is fully remote and calls for a leader comfortable with high-stakes government procurement and able to influence C-suite decision-makers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute a data-driven go-to-market strategy to grow revenue in national security and defence sectors.
• Maintain strict pipeline discipline and give leadership accurate revenue forecasts.
• Build compelling narratives connecting Planet's data offerings to the objectives of government decision-makers.
• Recruit, mentor and retain top talent, keeping the team a leader in defence-domain commercial space.
• Work closely with pre-sales and solutions engineering teams so deals execute smoothly.
• Foster cross-functional communication to keep deal velocity and organisational harmony.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 6 in formal leadership or supervisory roles.
• Proven track record of building, scaling and managing geographically distributed sales teams.
• Deep knowledge of European government and defence procurement processes.
• An established C-suite network within European defence ministries and intelligence agencies.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
