Digital Forensics Analyst

About the role

In the fast‑moving financial services sector, the Digital Forensics Analyst will protect a leading Africa‑focused group from digital crime. Based in Johannesburg, the analyst responds to security incidents and conducts in‑depth forensic investigations to minimise operational loss and safeguard reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to security incidents and manage the incident lifecycle.
• Perform detailed forensic examinations of compromised systems, networks and data.
• Collect, preserve and analyse digital evidence in a forensically sound manner for possible legal use.
• Document investigative steps, findings and conclusions in comprehensive reports.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to senior management, regulators and legal counsel.
• Collaborate with IT security, legal and compliance teams to coordinate responses.
• Stay updated on forensic tools, techniques and emerging cyber threats.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of the organisation’s forensic investigation framework and policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Security or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of hands‑on experience in digital forensics, incident response or cyber investigations.
• Proven ability to prepare evidential reports and present findings to senior stakeholders, regulators and legal representatives.
• Strong understanding of data management, fraud investigation principles and general IT concepts.
• Experience applying governance, risk management and control principles.
• Relevant certifications such as GCFA, GCFE, CHFI, CISSP, CISM or equivalent are preferred.
