DevOps Engineer – Remote (South Africa)

About the role

This fully remote position is for a DevOps Engineer based in South Africa, working within an international engineering team. You will help modernise existing systems, improve platform stability and strengthen the security‑focused product ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend infrastructure and services.
• Develop product features from design through implementation, testing and deployment.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in code, systems and production environments.
• Operate large‑scale server infrastructure, including API gateways, load balancers and internal processing systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, automated software delivery.
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high‑quality code.
• Monitor production performance, identify improvement opportunities and proactively enhance reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture, technical direction and system maintainability.
• Support infrastructure modernisation by reducing technical debt and simplifying processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, DevOps engineering or a related technical role.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with the ability to take technical ownership.
• Experience working in distributed, high‑throughput environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across remote, distributed teams.
