DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join a high‑performing engineering team in South Africa. You will design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure that powers large‑scale digital platforms, working across cloud and on‑premises environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and promote modern DevOps practices to improve collaboration between development, QA and operations.
• Deploy, manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters in both cloud and on‑premises settings.
• Build, maintain and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for reliable software delivery.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using IaC and CaC tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and performance‑optimisation solutions.
• Administer Linux‑based systems, ensuring security, availability and operational excellence.
• Troubleshoot production issues and enhance deployment workflows.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset within Agile teams.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Ansible (Configuration as Code).
• Infrastructure as Code using AWS and Terraform.
• CI/CD pipeline design with Jenkins.
• Monitoring and logging tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK Stack.
• Advanced Linux system administration and networking concepts (routing, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
• Scripting/programming in Go, Python or Groovy.
• Kubernetes administration; familiarity with Rancher is a plus.
• Experience with VMware vSphere is advantageous.
