DevOps Engineer – Cloud Automation (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

This remote‑first position is for a DevOps Engineer based in South Africa, working with an international team that builds and maintains the infrastructure behind globally distributed digital products. You will operate at the intersection of software engineering, cloud platforms, and developer experience, helping to deliver reliable services faster.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal services and tools using Go to automate deployments and support developer platforms.
• Build, maintain, and optimise scalable CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD.
• Manage and improve Kubernetes‑based production and pre‑production environments.
• Implement infrastructure‑as‑code solutions using Terraform and Ansible.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting with Grafana, OpenSearch and related observability tools.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience and software delivery processes.
• Take ownership of technical decisions, infrastructure improvements, and operational outcomes.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar infrastructure‑focused role.
• Strong Go (Golang) development skills with experience building production services or tools.
• Hands‑on experience managing Kubernetes environments in production.
• Solid Linux administration background and experience with production systems.
