About the role
A specialist conveyancing law firm in Cape Town is looking for an experienced Developments Manager / Conveyancer to lead its Developments Department. This senior position requires an admitted attorney and conveyancer with strong property development, people‑management and commercial skills to grow the practice.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the Developments Department efficiently, overseeing people, projects and departmental operations.
- Drive business development, lead generation and financial growth for the practice.
- Identify new business opportunities and provide market intelligence.
- Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring high service standards.
- Monitor departmental performance against financial and operational targets.
- Implement effective business processes, procedures and departmental strategy.
- Conduct market research to spot trends, opportunities and potential issues.
- Manage HR matters, internal systems, conveyancing technology and departmental records.
- Train and onboard new staff on systems, programs and firm procedures.
- Provide leadership, direction, support and performance management to the team, ensuring efficient project and deadline management.
Required profile
- LLB or equivalent legal qualification, admitted attorney and admitted conveyancer.
- Approximately 5 years of experience as a Development Manager or in property development management.
- Strong background in property development conveyancing and managing a legal/conveyancing department.
- Proven track record in client relationship management, business development and financial performance.
- Experience managing staff, workflows, systems and departmental processes.
- Commercial acumen and ability to drive growth of a specialist practice.
