Development Manager

About the role

The client, a leading FMCG company, is seeking a Development Manager to lead the design and development of new and refreshed retail stores across the Western Cape region. This senior position reports to the Regional Executive and plays a key role in shaping the brand’s corporate identity and retail strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regional leadership on store design and development through the Western Cape office.
• Research and launch retail initiatives that boost sales, profitability and market share.
• Foster a culture of innovation and ensure continuous improvement compliance.
• Maintain and update branding and image specifications.
• Develop, maintain and govern SOPs for development and store‑planning teams.
• Oversee legislative and regulatory compliance for design and development projects.
• Manage the national and regional preferred supplier list and control supplier costs.
• Achieve project targets and budgets for regional initiatives.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus a Diploma in Architectural Draughtsmanship with extensive Revit experience.
• Diploma in Project Management (advantageous).
• Qualifications in Building Engineering or Building Science (advantageous).
• 3‑5 years of experience in a management role.
• Strong negotiation, communication, planning and organisational abilities.
• Ability to coach, mentor and work independently.
