Despatch Coordinator – Logistics

About the role

Puratos is seeking a Despatch Coordinator to manage the flow of finished goods to eight distribution centres and to coordinate inbound deliveries of raw materials and packaging at its Longmeadow site in Gauteng. The role ensures accurate stock rotation, batch traceability and alignment with production schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute outbound dispatches based on replenishment triggers, stock age and delivery windows.
• Optimize truck loads and routing to reduce transport costs and turnaround times.
• Generate and verify dispatch documentation, ensuring FIFO principles are applied.
• Monitor stock age, prioritize older batches and request shelf‑life extensions for short‑dated stock.
• Track and report dispatch KPIs such as OTIF, batch rotation compliance and DC fill rate.
• Schedule and receive inbound deliveries of raw materials, packaging and consumables.
• Conduct quantity and quality checks on inbound shipments and escalate discrepancies.
• Coordinate inbound timing with procurement and production to match production plans.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with a post‑matric qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in dispatch and receiving coordination, preferably in a multi‑DC or FMCG environment.
• Strong understanding of stock rotation, batch control and traceability.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP and Syspro.
• Advanced Excel skills.
