Designated Agent

About the role

The Designated Agent ensures that all companies within the Council’s registration scope are compliant with the collective agreements promulgated by the Minister of Labour. The role combines legal enforcement, inspection, and stakeholder engagement to protect the interests of the road freight and logistics industry.

Key responsibilities

• Promote, monitor and enforce compliance with all collective agreements, investigating non‑compliant companies and opening cases where registration is refused.
• Interpret clauses of the Main Collective Agreements, issue compliance orders, calculate dues, and manage conciliation or arbitration referrals.
• Conduct full, logbook, educational and demarcation inspections on‑site and produce detailed findings reports.
• Receive and investigate complainant cases, decide on appropriate investigative actions, and ensure timely, quality investigations.
• Lead enforcement cases through arbitration, serve legal documents, and negotiate settlement agreements with employer representatives.
• Prepare weekly activity reports, plan enforcement activities, and perform stakeholder perception surveys.

Required profile

• Post‑Matric qualification (LLB, Labour Law or related field) with a minimum of 3 years enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle for site visits.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret labour legislation and collective‑agreement clauses.
