Design Manager – Construction

About the role

We are urgently looking for an experienced Design Manager to join a fast‑growing construction group operating across the South‑East of England. The role will involve leading design delivery on low‑rise and mid‑rise residential schemes for a diverse portfolio that includes community, education, private and social housing, as well as civil engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pre‑contract and post‑contract design activities for residential projects.
• Coordinate design teams and ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
• Manage design budgets, schedules and quality standards.
• Liaise with developers, consultants and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement of design processes.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in a design management role within the construction sector.
• Proven track record delivering low‑rise and mid‑rise residential schemes.
• Experience working with developers in Kent, Surrey or Sussex.
• Residence within a daily commuting distance of North Kent.
