Deputy Factory Manager – Production & Maintenance

About the role

The Deputy Factory Manager will ensure production processes deliver high‑quality products in a cost‑effective, safe and reliable manner. The role also leads the process and maintenance functions, executing strategic direction and driving continuous improvement across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an asset preservation strategy.
• Manage maintenance effectiveness and drive quality improvements to eliminate defects.
• Recruit, train, develop and lead plant personnel.
• Oversee safety, health and environmental management.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Apply SHE risk management competencies.

Required profile

• NQF Level 6/7 degree in Mechanical, Electrical engineering or a Millwright qualification; financial management qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification engineering or process experience in FMCG or processing industry, with a strong hands‑on maintenance background.
• Artisan/technician background is a strong advantage.
• Excludes candidates from mining, steel, industrial or chemical engineering sectors.
