Demand Planning Specialist – Africa & Middle-East

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for a Demand Planning Specialist to manage the demand planning and replenishment cycle across its sites. You will translate site demand signals into accurate purchase orders, ensuring material availability for operations in Africa and the Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the SAP MRP‑based demand planning and replenishment process for assigned sites and material categories.
• Review daily/weekly MRP recommendations, validate demand signals against maintenance plans and make replenishment decisions.
• Participate in weekly and monthly demand‑review meetings with site Demand & Supply Superintendents and user departments.
• Identify slow‑moving, excess and at‑risk inventory and provide recommendations to reduce holding costs.
• Manage back‑orders, escalating and creating recovery plans for critical short items.
• Collaborate with sourcing, procurement and suppliers to monitor order status and lead times.
• Produce weekly demand and replenishment performance reports.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in demand planning, inventory management or procurement.
• Proficiency with SAP MRP is essential.
• Experience with forecasting techniques and inventory optimisation.
• Background in mining or heavy industry is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret maintenance plans, supplier lead times and inventory trends.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and high attention to data accuracy.
