Dealer and Field Sales Training Lead

About the role

Watu is looking for a Dealer and Field Sales Training Lead in Johannesburg to build the knowledge, skills and confidence of its dealership partners and field sales teams across South Africa. You will prepare new dealership owners, managers and field officers to follow Watu's sales process correctly from day one, including understanding the products, explaining them to customers and completing each stage of the sale accurately. It is a practical, field-focused role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver onboarding training to dealership owners, managers and field officers.
• Teach the sale from start to finish, including when and how to involve other departments.
• Spend three days a week in the field, observing how field officers sell and talk to customers.
• Turn observations into recommendations for the Sales Manager and senior business development leadership.
• Design and update training content and job aids based on the gaps found.
• Track training results and report on what is working.

Required profile

• Proven experience in sales training, field-sales development or dealer and channel enablement.
• Experience in asset finance, device financing, microfinance or fintech is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience observing and coaching sales agents in the field.
• Fluent English; other South African languages used by dealers and field teams are a strong advantage.
• Willingness to travel regularly across South Africa, including some weekends.

Required skills

• Strong facilitation skills, comfortable training groups in person and remotely.
• Ability to design practical training content.
• Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
• Clear, honest communication and the confidence to challenge poor performance respectfully.

Working conditions: two days a week in the office and three days in the field, with regular travel to dealer sites across South Africa, including some weekends where required.
