DC Inbound Junior Retail Assistant Manager (Night Shift)

About the role

Dis-Chem's distribution centre in Stikland, Cape Town is looking for a DC Inbound Junior Retail Assistant Manager (Night Shift) to drive operational excellence in inbound logistics, covering receiving, warehousing, picking/packing, replenishment, manifesting and dispatch.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliveries are received, checked, processed and put away within agreed timelines and Dis‑Chem policies.
• Plan delivery schedules and staff requirements, maintain stock rotation using the FEFO principle, and manage expired or reject stock.
• Monitor shelf life, collaborate with QA to meet industry standards, and develop solutions for seasonal demand and unique packaging.
• Manage safe storage and flow of Dis‑Chem, CHEP and EURO pallets, train new staff and monitor performance including reviews.
• Oversee GWP, SHE program and OHS compliance, resolve internal and external customer queries, and maintain relationships with third‑party stakeholders.
• Identify supplier issues, pursue cost‑saving opportunities and manage financial indicators within budget and corporate governance.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric and a relevant degree or diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in distribution, logistics or supply chain environments.
• South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record, valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Willingness to work any shift (day, night, weekends, holidays) and rotate as business needs dictate.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge of management systems, occupational health and safety regulations and material handling standards.
