Database Administrator - Business Intelligence

About the role

We are looking for a Database Administrator to support our Business Intelligence environment. You will maintain reliable, secure and high‑performing SQL Server platforms that power data‑warehouse operations, ETL processes, reporting datasets and dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor SQL Server health, performance, disk usage and job execution; perform daily, weekly and monthly health checks.
• Support ETL developers by overseeing SQL Agent jobs, SSIS package runs and data refreshes, investigating failures and assisting with reruns.
• Validate backups, conduct restore tests and maintain documentation of backup and recovery activities.
• Process database access requests, conduct periodic access reviews and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Assist with deployment of database objects (tables, views, stored procedures) following change‑management procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures and support activities.
• Provide first‑line support for BI‑related incidents such as failed jobs, performance issues and data refresh problems.

Required profile

• National Diploma, B‑Tech or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of database administration or BI support experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Exposure to SSIS, SSRS, SSAS or Power BI is desirable.

• Microsoft SQL Server administration (including SQL Agent).
• ETL tools: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
• Power BI dataset refresh and reporting support.
• Backup, restore and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Performance monitoring and query optimisation.
• Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
