Data Protection Officer – Remote (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a remote Data Protection Officer to join a leading IT services and consulting firm on a contract basis. The role focuses on overseeing data protection strategies, ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations, and safeguarding personally identifiable information.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures aligned with global privacy laws.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify compliance with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Monitor, report, and mitigate data protection risks, recommending corrective actions as needed.
• Train employees on privacy best practices and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Law, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CISSP are preferred.
• Proven experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and applying privacy‑by‑design principles.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and other data protection regulations.
• Ability to perform privacy audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
• Experience drafting and maintaining privacy policies and procedures.
