Data Manager – Epidemiology (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

Airfinity is seeking a Data Manager with a focus on epidemiology to join its data team. Working remotely from South Africa, you will help expand and refine datasets that support AI‑driven insights for infectious disease, obesity, and cardiometabolic conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of Airfinity data to support collection, annotation, and development in specific disease areas.
• Work independently on tasks or projects once given a clear brief, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
• Take ownership of specific data domains, contributing to dataset improvement and expansion.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional team members and senior colleagues to deliver on shared projects.
• Communicate with external stakeholders to prioritize tasks and answer data‑related questions during client calls.
• Produce slide decks and detailed commentary on data changes with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Experience working with healthcare data and epidemiological information.
• Ability to work independently with clear direction.
• Clear and confident communication skills, both within the team and with external partners.

Required skills

• Fluent SQL and experience with relational databases.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Expertise in geospatial data handling.
• Familiarity with healthcare data structures.
