Data Capturer – Fixed-Term (6 months)

About the role
The Data Capturer will support the Haematology Research division at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital by accurately entering and cleaning patient information for ongoing research studies. This fixed‑term position (6 months) requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Create and capture new patient files and enter laboratory blood results.
- Identify and report missing data, inconsistencies or errors, and follow up with relevant parties.
- Perform daily data cleaning, quality‑control checks and verify manually captured information.
- Compare patient history (e.g., height, weight, TB status, medication, ARV start dates) and resolve discrepancies.
- Compile, generate and maintain reports and patient documentation.
- Support the Project Coordinator with administrative tasks and ensure research activities meet allocated timelines.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) with basic computer and typing skills.
- At least one year of experience in data capture or administrative roles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using database software for data entry and management.
