Data Analyst – Internal Audit & Business Intelligence

About the role

We are seeking a Data Analyst to join a leading global digital solutions organisation in Johannesburg. The role focuses on turning data into actionable insights that support internal audit, governance and business decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal auditors and business stakeholders to translate audit objectives into data‑driven analysis.
• Design and execute analytics and trend analyses to identify risks, control gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Assess the effectiveness of business and audit processes, recommending optimisations for efficiency, accuracy and data integrity.
• Support a continuous‑auditing framework using data analytics to broaden internal audit coverage.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations that enhance reporting and focus assurance efforts.
• Prepare working papers, data dictionaries and documentation for all analytics activities.
• Ensure high‑quality execution and reporting of analytics deliverables.
• Contribute to policies, procedures and frameworks guiding data‑analytics initiatives within Internal Audit.
• Communicate complex, data‑driven insights to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Statistics or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of hands‑on data‑analytics experience, preferably within the eCommerce sector.
• Proven ability to work in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong understanding of data privacy, integrity and regulatory compliance frameworks such as SOX and GDPR.
• Meticulous attention to detail and adaptability in fast‑paced environments.
• Solid knowledge of auditing principles, requirements and methodologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools, especially Power BI.
• Advanced SQL querying skills (Microsoft SQL).
• Programming experience in Python.
• Expertise in Alteryx, including SSIS and SSRS components.
