Customer Service Agent (Shipping)

About the role

The company in Cape Town seeks a Customer Service Agent focused on shipping operations. You will act as the main liaison between customers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and timely deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process customer, consignment, and manufacturing stock orders following SOPs.
• Participate in production planning meetings and track order progress.
• Request and compare quotations from three freight forwarders for each shipment.
• Book shipments, arrange pre‑export inspections, and complete required export documentation.
• Track shipments, liaise with freight forwarders, and provide weekly updates to customers.
• Confirm stock receipt at destination 3PLs and manage supporting documentation.
• Process inter‑company stock transfers and coordinate final delivery with destination 3PLs.
• Follow up on deliveries, obtain proof of delivery, and manage backorders.
• Coordinate customer sample shipments, including courier arrangements.
• Maintain shipping cost schedules, update customer profiles, and verify freight forwarder invoices.
• Compile monthly KPI reports and file electronic sales documentation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification.
• Practical experience in a customer‑facing role within logistics or shipping.
