Customer Assistant – Tills/Foods

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant – Tills/Foods, working in one of its vibrant stores across the Western Cape. You will be the first point of contact at the till, delivering friendly service, processing transactions and promoting loyalty programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly at all till points and ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Accurately process till transactions, including cash, card and other payment methods, in line with company policies.
• Promote Woolworths loyalty programmes and additional services such as utility bill payments and airtime sales.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised till area, adhering to shop‑keeping disciplines.
• Check pricing accuracy by comparing scanned items with shelf tickets and resolve discrepancies.
• Follow loss‑prevention procedures to minimise shrinkage and report any irregularities promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum education level of Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with friendly and effective communication.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain store standards.
• Reliability, honesty and commitment to reducing shrinkage.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage time effectively during shifts.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and be a proactive team member.

Required skills

• Operation of point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and handling of multiple payment methods.
