Customer Assistant – Foods & Tills (Plattekloof)

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant in the Foods & Tills area at the Plattekloof store. You will be part of a vibrant food retail team focused on delivering exceptional service, maintaining high hygiene standards, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, answer queries and advise on product options, promotions and alternatives.
• Maintain stock accuracy through rotation, replenishment and strict cold‑chain and hygiene compliance.
• Identify and isolate quality issues, manage returns to vendors and report any suspicious activities.
• Follow shop‑keeping disciplines such as planograms, gap policies and keep the department clean and tidy.
• Minimise shrinkage by reporting dishonest acts, handling stock losses and adhering to security protocols.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level.
• Basic computer literacy for essential digital tasks.
• Experience in food retail or a similar customer‑service environment (advantageous).
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and varied shifts.
• Strong communication, basic numeracy and literacy for stock management.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and cold‑chain management.
• Attention to detail, punctuality and adherence to dress‑code and team collaboration.
