CSSD Supervisor

About the role

The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of the CSSD to ensure that functional and sterile medical devices are consistently supplied to operating rooms and other hospital departments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day processes within the CSSD, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Manage departmental resources, including staff scheduling, equipment, and supplies.
• Identify, address, and report any departmental risks or non‑conformities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing with a Post‑Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Peri‑operative Nursing or a Diploma in Operating Department Assistance.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience, with at least two years in a theatre environment.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control protocols.
• Reprocessing cycle of reusable medical devices.
• Knowledge of medico‑legal risks.
• Stock control principles and practices.
• Inventory management.
• Understanding of statutory requirements and accreditation standards.
• Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
