Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice Internship – Transnational Organized Crime

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southern Africa is seeking a motivated intern to support its trans‑national organized crime programme. The six‑month placement in Pretoria will involve research, drafting, and logistical support for events and meetings, providing valuable exposure to international crime prevention work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points and articles.
• Develop strategic communications materials, presentations and visualisations.
• Proofread documents for style, grammar and consistency.
• Provide logistical support for in‑person and virtual events, including preparation and execution.
• Conduct research on asset confiscation, international cooperation, illicit financial flows and related topics.
• Monitor and analyse project information and maintain databases.
• Attend conferences and meetings, take notes and support follow‑up activities.
• Identify key contacts and opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (or final year) with a degree in law, international relations, political science, economics, information technology, monitoring & evaluation or a related field.
• Excellent academic record and ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week) for six months.
• Strong written communication skills in English.
