Creditors Controller / Bookkeeper – Construction

About the role

The Creditors Controller / Bookkeeper will own the accounts payable function for a construction business operating across several entities in Stellenbosch. You will ensure that supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are executed on time, supporting the finance team’s overall performance. You will work closely with procurement and project managers to ensure that all construction‑related expenses are captured correctly.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and load payments into the accounting system.
• Perform creditor reconciliations for multiple entities.
• Resolve supplier queries and maintain positive vendor relationships.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial records.
• Assist with month‑end closing activities related to accounts payable.
• Prepare regular reports on outstanding liabilities and cash requirements.

Required profile

• Accounting‑related qualification.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar creditors or accounts payable role.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• High level of accuracy and ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple entities and meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with BuildSmart accounting software (advantageous).
• Proficiency in accounts payable processes and best practices.
