Credit Controller

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Credit Controller to proactively minimise financial risk and maximise collection of outstanding debt across its private hospital network. The role involves managing debt recovery processes while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and address financial risk for the organisation.
• Collect outstanding debt within set benchmarks.
• Utilise resources efficiently to achieve optimal financial performance.
• Follow‑up on all financial classes, including unclaimed over‑payments and bad debt.
• Execute EDI processes and related patient administration tasks.
• Apply credit control and debt collection policies consistently.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum of two to three years’ experience in a debt collection environment.
• Experience within a private hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of funder contract rules and regulations.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with patient administration policies and procedures.
• Sound financial knowledge (reconciliations, debits/credits, adjustment journals).
• Understanding of medical aid requirements.
• Experience with AS400 system, Connect and Debtpack Enterprise Systems.
• Awareness of relevant legislation (National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act, Workman’s Compensation Act).
