Cost Draftsperson – Legal Costs Recovery (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cost Draftsperson to join our national Costs Team. The role is fully remote and focuses on preparing, negotiating and litigating bills of costs for housing disrepair claims, helping fee earners recover legal costs efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Costs for Detailed and Provisional Assessment proceedings.
• Manage the litigation of bills through the court process.
• Negotiate cost settlements with opposing parties.
• Support fee earners with cost recovery matters and prepare Part 8 and enforcement applications when required.
• Assist with court advocacy as needed and ensure compliance with legal procedures and court rules.
• Maintain accurate records, manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in cost drafting, either in‑house or with an external supplier.
• Experience preparing Bills of Costs and handling cost recovery matters.
• Basic knowledge of legal procedures and court processes.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, results‑driven attitude.
