Cost Accountant – Mining Industry

About the role

Join a globally recognised mining organisation as a Cost Accountant, responsible for uncovering the true value of operations through detailed cost analysis. You will work closely with production and finance teams to ensure financial targets are met and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse operational and production costs across business units.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, variance analyses and profitability studies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and planning processes.
• Monitor and control operating costs to achieve financial targets.
• Support month‑end reporting and management accounts preparation.
• Identify cost‑saving initiatives and operational efficiencies.
• Develop financial models to support strategic decisions.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting qualification.
• Completed CIMA qualification (mandatory).
• 2‑3 years of experience as a Cost Accountant or Management Accountant.
• Previous experience in mining, engineering or heavy industry.
• Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and variance reporting.

• Competitive salary ranging from R500,000 to R600,000 per year.
