Cost Accountant – Manufacturing (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join a leading manufacturing company in Cape Town. The role focuses on maintaining accurate cost records, analysing variances and supporting operational decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the cost accounting system, ensuring accurate costing records.
• Reconcile cost accounts and analyse manufacturing and inventory variances.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses and standard cost budgets.
• Manage inventory control processes, including stock takes and reconciliations.
• Cost imported goods, raw materials, manufactured products and services.
• Monitor standard costing, cost allocation across business entities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with production, procurement and other departments to ensure costing accuracy.
• Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly financial and cost reports for the Operations Financial Manager.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting.
• CIMA Level 2 (essential).
• 7–10 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is an advantage.
• Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems.

Required skills

• CIMA Level 2 certification.
• ERP accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
