Cost Accountant - Limpopo

About the role

The Cost Accountant will manage and analyse the company’s cost structures, supporting financial planning, budgeting and operational decision‑making. You will ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation and profitability analysis while complying with IFRS and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain product and production cost models, calculate standard costs and monitor variances.
• Update Bills of Materials and costing structures, conduct monthly cost analyses and investigate significant variances.
• Reconcile inventory balances, perform valuations, participate in stock counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly cost and management reports, assist with month‑end and year‑end closing, and create journal entries for inventory and production.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, track expenditures against budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, South African legislation and internal controls; support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, warehouse and operations teams to provide financial insights and improve profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Cost & Management Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CIMA qualification or progress towards it is advantageous; SAICA articles or equivalent experience beneficial.
• 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing, mining, agriculture, food processing or industrial settings.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Syspro, Sage or Microsoft Dynamics.
