Cost Accountant

About the role

This manufacturing company seeks a Cost Accountant with strong standard costing expertise to process financial data, analyse costs and support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and review standard costing models for raw materials, labour and overhead.
• Calculate and update standard costs for finished goods and components.
• Analyse cost variances, investigate root causes and prepare variance reports with recommendations.
• Monitor and reconcile Work‑in‑Progress balances, ensuring accurate valuation.
• Track production orders, identify bottlenecks and abnormal losses affecting WIP.
• Review, maintain and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and procurement to update BOMs for new products and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Perform inventory valuation and stock reconciliations in line with accounting standards.
• Support month‑end close by preparing cost journals, reconciliations, accruals and manufacturing cost reports.
• Prepare management reports on production costs, inventory movements, WIP, BOM variances and profitability.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting with cost assumptions and projections.

Required profile

• Completed degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CIMA registration (non‑negotiable).
• 5+ years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years experience in standard costing.
