Coordinating Nurse – Johannesburg

About the role

International SOS is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its medical team in Johannesburg. This office‑based position allows you to apply your clinical expertise to telephonic triage, risk analysis and global medical assistance while working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver front‑line telephonic triage and provide medical advice to patients, relatives, employers and other stakeholders.
• Interpret medical situations by conducting tailored risk analyses based on condition and geographical location.
• Monitor and manage open cases to closure, ensuring appropriate medical outcomes and financial compliance.
• Liaise with international medical professionals to obtain assessments for patients hospitalized or treated overseas.
• Provide pre‑travel and evacuation medical assistance, coordinating evacuation services and delivering health and travel information.

Required profile

• Nursing diploma or degree – Registered Nurse (RN) essential.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum of 5 years recent experience in ICU or ER.
• Experience in medical assistance, travel medicine, telephonic advice or related fields is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work in a shift environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.
