About the role
Preparing daily menus, accommodating dietary requirements and cooking meals as scheduled. Complying with food safety and maritime regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Meal planning and preparation: Preparing daily menus, accommodating dietary requirements and cooking meals as scheduled.
- Galley hygiene and safety: Complying with food safety and maritime regulations.
- Stock control and ordering: Monitoring stock levels, rotating provisions and placing orders as required.
- Recordkeeping and reporting: Completing meal logs, stock records and maintaining cleaning schedules.
Required profile
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- SAMSA Certificate of Proficiency: Efficient Cook.
- Minimum 2 – 4 years’ experience preparing meals onboard on vessels.
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards relevant to vessels.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic nutrition and portion control.
