Conveyancing Secretary – Transfers

About the role

Our client in Hyde Park is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Conveyancing Secretary to join their property law team in Illovo. The role focuses on correspondent conveyancing work, providing exposure to full transfer processes and the chance to take on greater responsibility based on experience. Immediate start is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing deeds and documentation for lodgement
• Handling correspondent lodgements at the Pretoria Deeds Office
• Assisting with applications for rates clearance certificates
• Assisting with SARS transfer duty applications
• Supporting senior conveyancing secretaries with transfer matters
• Communicating with municipalities, SARS, Deeds Office, and correspondent firms
• Maintaining accurate filing, tracking, and record keeping of all matters
• Running own transfer files from instruction to registration

Required profile

• Previous experience in a conveyancing environment (junior level)
• Basic understanding of property transfer processes
• Knowledge of Deeds Office procedures (preferably Pretoria)
• Experience with correspondent lodgements
• Exposure to rates clearance and transfer duty processes
• Familiarity with Deeds Office lodgement and tracking processes
• Exposure to SARS eFiling and municipal online systems for rates clearance applications
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong willingness to learn and develop within the conveyancing field
